Philip Sheppard

Co-founder // Composer, Musician, Producer

Philip Sheppard is a virtuoso cellist, composer, producer and creative thinker. Philip’s talent for bridging musical genres, media, and industries has led to rather interesting collaborations. He’s worked with David Bowie, Alexander McQueen, Jeff Buckley, UNKLE, Pretty Lights, The Weeknd, and Queens of the Stone Age. He has scored more than 30 films including In the Shadow of the Moon, winner of the Sundance Audience Award. He was a producer on the Beijing & London Olympic Games, and his music was recently used by JJ Abrams and Disney to promote Star Wars VII, the Force Awakens.

russell spurlock

Co-founder // Composer, Musician, Producer

Russell Spurlock has toured with live bands, played music festivals and studio gigs, and now composes for film and television and runs the production music library, Whatnot Industries. Though primarily a guitarist, Russell also plays sax and a bit of flute, banjo, drums, piano, and more.

As a composer, Russell has scored and composed the title themes to many reality shows and game shows, including the Emmy Award winning Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution (ABC), cult hit King of The Nerds (TBS), primetime ABC game show Bet on Your Baby, the upcoming Separation Anxiety (TBS), and more. The music library he founded, Whatnot Industries, curates music from more than 30 top composers for placement in shows like Duck Dynasty and many more. 

Russell's main passions are improvisation, collaboration, and mentoring.

Yarrow Kraner


Yarrow Kraner is Founder of HATCH, a Director at Virgin Produced, an Aspen Institute Fellow, and also named 2015 top 100 creatives in the U.S. by Origins Magazine. He is also featured in the recently released book "Talent for Humanity." Yarrow’s ideas and work have been recognized internationally, and he is currently packaging a feature film, Wind in the Fire, based on the remarkable story of Bobbi Gibb. Yarrow was also the Founder of Superdudes / Supernation, one of the pioneer social networking sites, founded in 1999, sold to Fox in 2004.

Yarrow's current focus is in growing the global HATCH network through HATCH Latin America, HATCHedu, and HATCH labs.

John Zirkle

Director, Educator, Musician

Since 2010, John has been an active force in the Big Sky arts scene, directing and producing over 40 theatrical and music performances with multiple organizations, several of which he has helped found from the ground up, and he is currently the K-12 music teacher at the Big Sky School District.

On top of his work as an educator, he is also the founding Artistic Director of the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center, and he has been a key figure in the development of one of Montana’s most innovative new arts institutions. He has helped raise nearly $3 million dollars for the arts in Big Sky through various initiatives including, among many, a world-class winter series and a summer arts conservatory.
