I am currently in my final year of my PhD degree in Science in Medicine from University of the Witwatersrand and would welcome the opportunity to apply for the Candidate Patent Attorney position at KISCH IP.
I am drawn to the firm’s structure that places a high degree of responsibility on each individual, which I believe fosters greater ownership and accelerates career development. I realised this over the four years of working in a research environment as a laboratory technician at the Hepatitis Virus Diversity Research Unit. The small size of the team I operated in afforded me the opportunity to take on seminal responsibilities other than my own such as establishing an online in-house ordering solution and offering recommendations to projects. I found this to be incredibly motivating and fulfilling, as the greater my responsibilities, the more significant my contributions to the group and value as an employee. Finding that KISCH IP promotes such initiative and ownership amongst its attorneys encourages me to apply for a position, as I am confident my enthusiastic disposition for responsibility will allow me to succeed at the firm.
KISCH IP top-tier ranking in the Intellectual property (IP) sector is also highly appealing, as my extra studies relating to this field solidified my interest in all things linked to patenting. During my time as an undergraduate, I have come across patenting of novel scientific research by fellow colleagues. Seeing the opportunity that patent work provides the exposure to learning various fields of technology and science is one of the main reasons for pursuing this career. Coupled with my fluency in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, I am confident that my I can contribute excellently to the cross- border work KISCH IP carries out for companies wishing to promote and protect their invention on an international level. As a tutor and a Rotarian, I also enjoy teaching and contributing to the betterment society.
For these reasons, I am highly keen on securing a Candidate Attorney role with KISCH IP. I am confident that my skills, interests and values will flourish at the firm and will augment its commitment to provide the highest calibre of legal services. I have attached my CV and University of the Witwatersrand transcript for your consideration. If you feel that my abilities and experience make me a strong candidate to join the team at KISCH IP, I would be very happy to contact you later in the hope that we can schedule a convenient time to meet.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
